The story of Fazenda Giori is woven from a love of coffee that spans generations. It began in 1895, when the family patriarch, Francesco Giori, arrived in Brazil. Originally devoted to Arabica coffee, the family is now in its fourth generation of cultivating biodynamic Robusta coffee. Since 1997, at the farm’s current headquarters, the family has been fully dedicated to cultivating and processing coffee, expanding its expertise and continuously improving with each new harvest.

The current generation of the Giori family has deepened its passion for coffee growing with a profound desire: to build a healthy and regenerative relationship with the land. This commitment led to the adoption of organic and sustainable agricultural practices, with the aim of nourishing the soil without harming it and respecting its natural cycles.
In their search for a gentle, non-aggressive way of living in harmony with the land, the family embraced Biodynamics, an agricultural philosophy developed in 1924 by Rudolf Steiner, founder of Anthroposophy. This philosophy became an integral part of the family’s values and goals on its journey toward a more innovative and sustainable approach to farming.
🐝 Self-Sufficiency and a Living Agricultural Organism
The result of this philosophy is a highly sustainable and harmonious approach to farm management, in which the farm is viewed as a living, thriving agricultural organism. Biodynamics is regarded as one of the most rigorous approaches to organic farming in the world, with integration at its core.
Animal Diversity: Sheep, cattle, poultry, pigs, and, of course, bees are all integral parts of this agricultural organism. The presence and diversity of these animals put sustainability into practice.
Self-Sufficiency and Integration: Following the principles of biodynamic agriculture, the farm seeks to produce as much as possible within its own boundaries, nourishing the soil with manure from its own animals. This promotes self-sufficiency in soil nourishment and regeneration, strengthening the farm as a coherent and interconnected organism.
Bees and Pollination: Fazenda Giori maintains meliponaries (stingless bee colonies) and apiaries, protecting these essential pollinators, which, in turn, contribute to the health of the coffee plantation and the quality of its coffee.
